Co-operation Town in Kentish Town is a network of community-led food co-ops that run different groups around Camden.
What is a food co-op?
A food co-operative (not to be confused with a food bank) is a way to distribute high-quality food at affordable prices. They can operate as a store or out of community centres, places of worship, school halls and more.
Where does the food come from?
The food can come from a range of suppliers, from bulk purchasing, supermarket surplus and direct from the producer.
Take a look at this video featuring one of the Co-operation Town organisers Shiri Shalmy, and resident Angela Tebe to find out more.
“The combination of surplus food and food bought in bulk reduces household food costs by 40%”
